PLAN HOW TO PAY FOR COLLEGE
Starting college is a new and exciting experience and being financially prepared will help you succeed.
Here are some funding options that can help pay for your education:
Apply for NSCC Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards
- We offer over $3 million in scholarships, bursaries and awards each year.
- Most awards range between $1,000 and $2,500.
- Awards are based on criteria like financial need, demonstrated leadership, volunteer experience, career interests, academic standing and more.
- For more information, visit nscc.ca/studentawards or contact our Student Awards team at awards@nscc.ca or 1-855-825-9060 (toll-free).
External awards and scholarships
There are many external organizations and institutions that fund student awards. Visit nscc.ca/financialaid to view a list of resources and research opportunities to see if you’re a match.
Student loans, non-repayable grants
You may be eligible for government financial assistance in the form of loans and grants. The Government of Canada has eliminated the accumulation of interest on Canada Student Loans effective April 1, 2023.
Canada Learning Bond (CLB)
The CLB is money that the government adds to a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) for children from low-income families.
Student line of credit
If you don’t qualify for a government loan or you require further funding, many private institutions and banks offer low-interest student lines of credit. A line of credit gives you access to an agreed-upon amount of money, which can be withdrawn as needed. Interest is paid only on the money you withdraw.
