STEP 5

PLAN HOW TO PAY FOR COLLEGE.

Starting college is a new and exciting experience and being financially prepared will help you succeed.

Here are some funding options that can help pay for your education.

NSCC financial support: scholarships, bursaries and awards

  • We offer over $3 million in scholarships, bursaries and awards each year.
  • Most awards range between $1,000 and $2,500 and are based on an array of criteria.

If you’re a high school student, you can apply to have your first year of tuition paid through an entrance award.

Student loans, non-repayable grants, Canada Learning Bond (CLB)

You may be eligible for government financial assistance in the form of loans and grants. The CLB is money that the Government adds to a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) for children from low-income families.

Student line of credit

If you don’t qualify for a government loan or you require further funding, many private institutions and banks offer low-interest student lines of credit.

A line of credit gives you access to an agreed-upon amount of money, which can be withdrawn as needed. Interest is paid only on the money you withdraw.
